On Page and Off Page SEO Basics
On Page Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is very important as it is responsible for helping you to increase the amount of traffic that comes through your website via keyword and phrase searching by the prospect. The most important part of On Page SEO is the choice of the words you use for your headings. The reason for this is that all the search engines look at your page headings and determine what your page is about by this first. What ever your product or service make sure your main keyword is within the title of your website pages, don’t make the mistake of trying to get as many keywords in as possible as this will often not make sense and search engines like Google will see this as spam and that will not help your rank. Make your title headings clear and to the point but with the main keyword within it. The content you use on the page should always be written well with keywords running through it. Don’t not worry too much about keyword density at this point you can always change that later as your website evolves and you become better at SEO. But do use them at least twice per 500 words but no more than say eight times as it begins to become more of a spam content rather than relevant content that is informative.
Off Page Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is responsible for the amount of traffic brought to your website by the use of links from another website to your website. Some SEO experts refer to this as – link popularity. This is what the search engines like Google use when ranking your website as well as other factors like keywords and relevant content (see On Page SEO above). If you use Google toolbar you can see your website and others page rank. Getting good quality links can be very time consuming but are worth their weight in gold for your site.
